Quest Software Unveils Next-Generation Solution Portfolio for SQL Server at Tech-Ed 2009

Fusion of Product Innovation, World-Class Support, and Free Education Provides SQL Server Professionals with Total Solution

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Microsoft Tech-Ed North America 2009 – May 12, 2009Quest Software, Inc.  (Nasdaq: QSFT) unveiled a complete update of its award-winning solution portfolio for SQL Server at Tech-Ed 2009 today. Built on advanced new technology and backed by 24/7 world-class support, each newly released product will be available for demonstrations in booth 808. Quest will also showcase its redesigned free online educational resource, SQLServerPedia.

Quest’s industry-leading solutions are built to tackle the challenges faced by SQL Server professionals across all key areas of database management. Paired with free access to SQLServerPedia, the following product releases provide the community with the most comprehensive portfolio of solutions for SQL Server in the market:

  • LiteSpeed® for SQL Server, Quest’s market-leading backup and recovery solution, features SmartDiff, a new patent-pending technology that enables users to store more than a terabyte of database backups on a single USB flash drive. It also reduces backup time from a few hours to just a few minutes, while providing even more flexible recovery options.
  • Capacity Manager for SQL Server, Quest’s solution for capacity trending and forecasting, now includes Capacity Today, which provides a quick overview of the system’s key areas of health, as well as an updated Capacity Planner, which allows users to easily manage SQL Server consolidation projects.
  • Spotlight® on SQL Server Enterprise, a powerful tool for detection, diagnosis and resolution of performance issues in real time, instantly alerts on deadlocks, blocking, and SQL bottlenecks. Enhanced notifications and troubleshooting capabilities point to the root of performance issues, which database administrators (DBAs) can quickly resolve with the new integrated SQL optimization functionality.
  • Foglight® Performance Analysis for SQL Server, a workload performance tuning and diagnostic tool, now offers Performance Analysis WebView for web-enabled enterprise administration and alerting. Quest’s unique StealthCollect agent technology collects SQL metrics and performance data at a fraction of the impact of conventional methods.
  • Toad® for SQL Server, a comprehensive development and administration tool, now offers instance and schema management, bridging the gap between Microsoft Management Studio and Visual Studio. Users now can compare and synch schema and table data, execute SQL scripts against multiple instances, recover data with the transaction log reader, manage SQL Server jobs, and recall scripts run at any point in time.

Quest will also showcase its recently updated online resource, SQLServerPedia. With a monthly growth rate of 20 percent for both visits and page views since its official launch last November, the free and increasingly popular blog/wiki combo has a redesigned web site and enhanced navigation.

“Continually fine-tuning our solutions and advocating knowledge-sharing via free resources like SQLServerPedia reflects our ongoing commitment to our customers and the entire SQL Server community, “ said Billy Bosworth, vice president and general manager of SQL Server group, Quest Software. “In an effort to support DBAs faced with increasingly complex environments and mounting workloads, Quest will continue to provide top-notch solutions that boost productivity, save time, and cut costs.”
